Connect to Careers Launches CO.STARTERS
Decatur, IN, 3/1/2016 – Adams County’s workforce development organization, Connect to Careers, will offer CO.STARTERS, a nationally renowned training platform that helps communities grow local businesses in April 2016. The nine-week program equips aspiring entrepreneurs with the insights, relationships, and tools needed to turn business ideas into action. CO.STARTERS applies lean business modeling methods popular among high-growth startups to businesses of all kinds.
Twelve individuals will be accepted into the inaugural class from the pool of applicants. The fee for the nine-week program including the materials is $250. Applications will be accepted through April 8th.
The CO.STARTERS program has been adopted by more than a dozen entrepreneurial organizations in cities around the country, including Phoenix, Arizona; Cincinnati, Ohio; Nashville and Chattanooga, Tennessee; Lakeland, Florida; and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
In Adams County, CO.STARTERS will be implemented and facilitated by Connect to Careers. The mission of Connect to Careers is to create opportunities for career advancement through a fully engaged and effectively prepared workforce. Participants in the nine-week CO.STARTERS program will meet for three hours weekly in the evening beginning April 20th.
CO.STARTERS came out of The Company Lab, a Chattanooga, Tennessee organization that offers programs and events to support local startups and innovators, acting as a catalyst for a healthy entrepreneurial community. This new program takes the lessons learned from working with thousands of local creative entrepreneurs and combines that knowledge with the lean business modeling methods used by high-growth startups. The CO.STARTERS model has been tested for years in Chattanooga, Cincinnati and Detroit, and is now helping other emerging startups in communities across the nation.
Connect To Careers places an emphasis on quality of life and quality of place in Adams County Indiana. “Our organization is excited to sponsor this opportunity for budding entrepreneurs who live in or want to start a business in Adams County,” said Board Chair Trois Hart. “Small business remains one of the fundamental economic drivers for local economies and job creation.” The vision for Connect To Careers is thriving communities where businesses grow and individuals succeed.

“If you look beyond Silicon Valley and New York, there are countless communities that are full of talented entrepreneurs, but they lack the organized community support they need to thrive,” said Enoch Elwell, CO.STARTERS Director. “CO.STARTERS provides a structure for these communities to achieve their economic growth goals and gives them an easy way to build the connections they need to grow.”
